Bulk Billing

Your comprehensive general eye examination can be bulk billed through Medicare. This means no out-of-pocket expense for you. If you have a current Medicare card and are under 65 years of age, you will be eligible for bulk billed eye tests every 3 years. If you are over 65, you can claim for one test per year.

Those under 65 who have certain eye conditions that require ongoing treatment may be eligible for bulk billing on extra visits.

If you do not have a current Medicare card, you may be required to pay a fee for your eye examination.

If you don’t have a current Medicare card and have private health insurance, your insurer may cover you for the cost or part thereof. As this varies from one health fund to another, you will need to check with your insurer.

Some of the additional tests we perform can also be bulk billed through Medicare.
